History
Made using pieces from my Mum's scarves as a means to celebrate her life. Submitted and accepted to 'Sorjzons', the Antipodean mini suitcase exhibition presented by Sue Wademan in United Kingdom, Europe, South Africa (August and September 2000) and New Zealand late 2000. Given to my brother in 2002
Description
Sometime you will become a mother to your mum. With Alzheimer’s this arrives and leaves only when she is released. Mum died 25 years after it started and Dad and I cleaned out so he could move on too. The textile includes 3 of her scarves: poinsettias embroidered, cups and saucers and the blue emblems with buttons her father gave her. The whole piece is surrounded by flowers, which she loved.
Made from Commercial old silk scarves, silk, polyester, glass buttons and beads and metal scarf tag, with Techniques including machine appliqué, fused appliqué, machine quilting and buttons
