History
The maker was a member of the Dash family. The present owner, Darla Taylor, swapped a blanket for the quilt in 1988. It had been in storage at Dash's in Blackheath NSW before that. It is now on display in the owner's house. Nothing else is known.
Description
Double sided patchwork quilt. Both sides have central frame surrounded by borders. Side 1 has a diamond of squares set in a square frame 490 mm. Borders are squares and triangles. Side 2 is central frame of squares on point surrounded by plain grey velvet border then maroon border. Materials are cottons, silks, velvet, crepe, rayons in a wide variety of colours and patterned and plain. Machine construction. No quilting. Padding is a cream wool blanket.
