HistoryMade before 1960 by Stan Treacy (1916-1988), a shearer in the Roma and Charleville area of Queensland. Owned by Stan, now owned by Julie and Pat Treacy. Known as 'Poppy's rug'. Kangaroos were shot in winter between shearing commitments. Stan made only two kangaroo rugs; he enjoyed making leather belts etc.
DescriptionAnimal skin rug made from rough rectangles of kangaroo skins, hand sewn together with leather thonging. Backing is woollen blankets.
