History

Made in 1987 for submission to The Quilters Guild suitcase exhibitions and for inclusion in the publication 'Australian quilts: the people and their art' written by Jan Irvine (Nealie) and published by Simon & Schuster Australia 1989.
The quilt was selected for the suitcase exhibitions and travelled for 5 years around Australia
Purchased by The Quilters’ Guild Inc and donated to Power House Museum (MAAS), Ultimo, Sydney as a social history collection

Description

The design explores the transition from traditional blocks into non-traditional forms
Materials used are Commercial cotton, poly-cotton, silk, polyester and chintz
Techniques include Machine pieced, hand pieced and machine quilted
