History The WA Parks Foundation invited a sewing group (The Mount Magnet Quilt Project Group) of the West Australian Quilters' Association (WAQA) to participate in the Spring Festival 2020 in WA. The group offered to create a banner for displaying at WA Parks Foundation events, and asked members of WAQA to contribute 8 inch square, bound quilts depicting flora, fauna or landforms of National, Marine, Conservation and Nature Parks in WA. 39 WAQA members contributed 62 quilts, then letter quilts and two additional quilts were made to make the number up to eighty - enough for a central panel and two side panels. The quilts were sewn by machine along their binding onto a backing of duck, with sleeves top and bottom for rods. The banner was accepted on behalf of the Parks Foundation by the Hon Kerry Sanderson, former Governor of WA and Chair of the Foundation, on August 28, 2020 at a celebration morning tea to which all quilt contributors were invited.
