History

Patchwork made from samples of men's suiting fabrics. The sample pieces on the edges may have come from a sample book which was bound together loosely rather than in a book form. The samples in the middle are probably from a bound sample book. The cotton backing may either indicate that the coverlet was finished in more recent times.

Description

Child's coverlet, made from suiting samples sewn in a patchwork effect.

This small quilt is machine stitched and made from suiting samples which have come from two styles of sample books. The colours are predominantly in blues and blue-grey. The quilt has been backed with a paisley printed cotton fabric.
