The quilt was made by Emily Forward in Annandale Sydney NSW between 1935 and 1940. It is now one of three made by Mrs Forward in Annette Gero's collection. In 1988 it had been in use 'until recently'. Mrs Forward said she made the bed coverings during 'hard times' when they could not afford blankets.
Machine stitched quilt with the top constructed from men's woollen suiting pieces. There are many repairs and the cream patches are recent additions. The padding is layers of blanket pieces. The quilt is very heavy.
