History

Made in the 1960s by Dulcie Williams at 'Montcairn', via Oakey Queensland. Owned by Dulcie Williams. "My mother, Clara Bailey (nee Hempel) taught me to sew but she had trouble with me. She would give me good material and I would be very nervous that I'd make a mess of it. When I did Home Ec at Warwick Tech, I made a dress in cotton and it was a success. I never looked back."

Description

Wholecloth quilt has a top of green, blue, yellow and white check cotton flannelette. The backing is calico with washed crossbreed fleece stitched to it in rows. Sewn on a treadle machine. A calico flap extends from the base and was used to tuck in the quilt to prevent slipping.
