Made by Margaret Osterfield (born Falletta 25 August 1856) at Burnt Gully near Bendigo Victoria, for Verna and Kaye's parents, probably in 1939-1940. Owned by Verna's sister, Kaye Osterfield. "Margaret Osterfield was a very hard working farmer's wife. She and husband Frederick Osterfield had ten children, my father [being] the second youngest. They lived at Burnt Gully, approximately ten miles from Bendigo. She crocheted and embroidered until her death on her 87th birthday."[Verna Doak]
Description
Made from crocheted rounds with raised centre, using left-over wool. Centre is a flat circle of clusters of treble stitch. Padding is a piece of blanket. Backing is blue cotton fabric.
