History

The quilt was made by Mrs Eunice Strawbridge's mother, who was a dressmaker in England early last century. It was made using remnants of silks and velvets left over from her dressmaking. It is now owned by the National Trust of Australia SA and is displayed in the parlour of the Hope Cottage Museum at Kingscote on Kangaroo Island SA.

Description

Hand sewn unfinished quilt top in traditional log cabin pattern in mainly silks and velvets. The strips of material are approximately 7mm wide and the fine stitching, clearly visible on the back, is in silk thread.
