Large format wall installation, art - textile.
"A break away from the traditional.
Although not aware of it at the time (in 1987) the use of the wool was a throwback to the Waggas my Grandmother used to make. My love of texture is indulged.

Description

Technique: Cutting blocks from samples then assembled by strip piecing. These were laid over wadding and a backing of calico. Top left panel of strips were laid and assembled in the ‘quilt-as-you-go’ method and then machine appliquéd around the edge. Hand quilted with crochet thread and hand finished.
Materials: Wool and upholstery samples of various weights. Polyester mixes, cotton and corduroy.
